Personal: Colston finished her high school career as one of the best softball players in Ohio state history. A four-year varsity letterman winner, Colston was named co-MVP of the Lake Erie League in 2008 and MVP of the Lake Erie League in 2006. She departed Bedford High as the all-time home run leader with 21, which is sixth all-time in the state of Ohio. She also established a school record for batting average (.658). In 2006, she was the Cleveland Plain-Dealer Player of the Week in 2006. Colston also established an Ohio state record by hitting a home run in four consecutive games.

She plays summer travel softball with the Tri-County Hurricanes. Colston led the team for three years in the following categories: batting average, runs batted in, home runs and slugging percentage. Colston was the 16-under Myrtle Beach Home Run Derby champion and she helped the 2008 Pony Fastpitch team to a spot in the Elite Eight of the national tournament. Colston was named MVP of the N.E.O. Senior Series Cleveland Metro All-Star team.
