LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, PA (March 26, 2009) – Joe Kruemmer (Middletown, DE, Hodgson Vo-Tech)reached the century mark in hits for his career with a double in the bottom of the third inning in a 16-6 loss to CIAA opponent Saint Augustine's College. (BOXSCORE)
Kruemmer was one hit shy after hitting a triple in yesterday's game versus West Chester University and came up with this milestone on a rainy afternoon at Lion's Field. He added an RBI single scoring Kyle Brooks (Baltimore, MD, Seton Hill) in the bottom of the fifth to pull the Lions within four at 8-4.
Melvin Robinson (Bear, DE, William Penn) went 2-4 with and RBI and a run scored continuing to lead the lions in batting average (.339) and RBI's (21). Aaron Thomas (Oxford, PA, Oxford Area) added two hits on the day and Absalom Lopez (Jersey City, NJ, Lincoln) tacked on another.
The game was at 8-6 going into the top of the seventh inning after two Falcon errors scored Omar Cham (Highland Park, NJ, Highland Park) and Brooks. St. Augustine's then went on to score eight runs on four hits, two of them home runs, three errors, and a walk going on to score 16. Chris Vette went the distance for the Falcons scattering nine hits and striking out six.
The second game of the double header was called because of inclement weather.
The Lions return to action on Saturday March 28 as they travel to Virginia State University for a double header beginning at 12:00 noon.
