Robinson Hits His Second Homerun in Loss to West Chester University

WEST CHESTER, PA (March 25, 2009) The Lincoln University baseball team lost 21-3 to West Chester University on Wednesday afternoon at Serpico Stadium.(BOXSCORE) 

 

Omar Glinton (Nassau, Bahamas, St. Augustine's), Melvin Robinson (Bear, DE, William Penn), Joe Kruemmer (Middletown, DE, Hodgson Vo-Tech), and Absalom Lopez (Jersey City, NJ, Lincoln) each recorded hits for the Lions on the day.  Lopez gave the Lions their first hit in the top of the second inning with a line drive into right field while Glinton added his hit in the top of the third with two outs driving the ball into left field.

 

In the top of the fourth inning, Robinson led off with a walk and was quickly driven in as Kruemmer hit a triple into center field for his second on the season.  He is now one hit shy of 100 for his career in a Lincoln uniform.  Kruemmer was followed by a fielder's choice RBI by Omar Ongay (Wilmington, DE, Glasgow) for the second run of the inning. 

 

Robinson hit his second homerun in five games, a towering shot to left center field, in the top of the sixth inning for the third and final run scored by the Lions.

 

The Rams exploded for 16 hits in seven innings, hitting three homeruns and three doubles.  They also had nine runners reach on walks.  Six pitchers took the mound for West Chester as they gave up three runs on four hits, one homerun, one triple, three walks, and a hit by pitch.  They also combined for 11 strikeouts. 

 

The Lions return to action on Thursday march 26 as they play host to St. Augustine's College for a double header beginning at 1:00pm on Lions Field.
