Loss to Johnson C. Smith can't hide improvement for Lincoln men

CHARLOTTE, NC (February 21, 2009) -- The Lincoln University of Pennsylvania men's basketball team went toe-to-toe with CIAA Western Division champion Johnson C. Smith before surrending an 83-75 decision Saturday afternoon at Brayboy Gym. (BOXSCORE)

The Lions (8-18) doubled their win total from 2008 and served notice that they will be a force to be reckoned with in the future. Lincoln placed five players in double figures highlighted by a team-high 18 points from Bryant Leach (Philadelphia, PA/John Bartram). Senior Jabyron Wilson recorded a double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds in his final game.

Darren Clark (Boston, MA/Largo) was magnificent in the second half, scoring all 13 of his points. Damian Hyman (Bronx, NY/Harry S. Truman) and Denzel Mooney (Baltimore, Md./Western School of Technology) added 10 points each for Lincoln. The Lions kept JCSU on the run and the fans quiet for most of the game by making 13 3-pointers. Lincoln and JCSU was tied, 60-60, with 11 minutes remaining before the Golden Bulls took control behind junior Jerry Hollis, who scored 8 of his 14 points during a 17-6 run that gave JCSU an 11-point advantage with six minutes remaining.
