Bowie State takes series against Lincoln

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, PA (February 12, 2009) - The Lincoln University of Pennsylvania men's basketball team dropped a 72-59 decision to Bowie State Thursday night at Manuel Rivero Hall. (BOXSCORE)

Freshman Denzel Mooney (Baltimore, Md./Western School of Technology) led the Lions with a career-high 23 points and four 3-pointers. Mooney shot 8-for-14 from the field and 3-for-5 from the free throw line. Also scoring in double digits for the Lions was Jabyron Wilson who finished with 22 points and 13 rebounds. Wilson has had a double double in  five of Lincoln's last six games.

The Bulldogs placed three players in double figures including leading scoring Duke Crews. Crews finished with 17 points and eight rebounds. Also scoring double figures were Casssin Diggs (16 points) and Armond HIll (11 points, seven rebounds).

Bryant Leach (Philadelphia, PA/John Bartram) added seven points for the Lions while Kristin Joyner (Brooklyn, NY/Thomas Jefferson) added three blocks. The Bulldogs won the defensive battle, out-rebounding the Lions 55-44. With much help from Mooney, Lincoln's bench managed to outscore Bowie State 28-23. 

Lincoln returns to action Saturday night when they travel Virginia Union for a 7:30 start, while Bowie host Saint Paul's College at 5p.m.
