BOX SCORE

WEST CHESTER, Pa. — The Lincoln University women's basketball team could not overcome early turnovers and poor first-half shooting Friday night against West Chester University, falling, 75-38 in the first day of the two-day Carol Eckman Classic.

West Chester represents one of the stiffest out-of-conference opponents LU will face. The Lady Golden Rams received votes in the latest USA Today/ESPN/WBCA rankings and moved to 6-0 with the win. With the loss, Lincoln falls 2-5.

The Lady Lions were led by DeJuana Mosley (Chester, PA/Chester) (Chester, PA, Chester) with 16 points, the fourth time the junior guard has done that this year. She also hauled down 13 boards for another double-double. Brittney Waters (Capitol Heights, Md./Charles H. Flowers) (Capitol Heights, MD/Charles H. Flowers) collected four points, three rebounds and an assist, as the freshman matures seemingly every possession.

In the early going, the Lady Lions could not overcome a 10-2 hole but had numerous opportunities. They could not convert as the fast-break layups fell harmlessly off the rim. Given that advantage, the Lady Golden Rams tightened up defensively, limiting LU to 15.0 percent from the field in the first half.

Lincoln entered double digits when Waters took a feed from Ivana Whitfield (Windsor, CT/Metropolitican LC) (Windsor, CT, Metropolitan LC) with five minutes remaining in the half LU trailed, 31-11.

Conversely, WCU shot 45.2 percent from the floor to take a 36-15 lead into the intermission.

Waters built on her tremendous play from Monday. In addition to four halftime points and two boards, she began the second half with an assist to Alease Tabb (Brooklyn, NY/Middle College High School) (Brooklyn, NY, Middle College) to break the pressure defense.

The lopsided score failed to indicate the high quality of effort the Lady Lions put forth, routinely hitting the deck for loose balls and remaining energetic all 40 minutes.

LU plays Millersville Saturday in day two of the Carol Eckman Classic. Millersville (5-0) defeated Chestnut Hill in the first game of the evening.
