Cheyney doubleheader to be made up Jan. 31

Anticipated inclement weather forced the decision.
LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. — As the Mid-Atlantic braces for the latest winter storm, Lincoln University and Cheyney University agreed to postpone the men's and women's basketball games scheduled for 6 p.m. Saturday at the Liacouras Center.

The games will be made up Jan. 31 at the Liacouras Center. The women's game tips at 1 p.m. with the men's contest to follow afterward. Tickets that have already been purchased will be honored on the rescheduled date.

As much as 12 inches of snow is predicted in the Philadelphia area with regions to the south anticipating greater amounts. Because of the distances these schools are traveling to play, road conditions for students, coaches, game workers and fans became a chief concern.

“We feel that this was the appropriate step to take. It is not a matter of if the storm is coming but when,” Lincoln athletic director Dianthia Ford-Kee said. “In the interest of those traveling to the game, it did not seem beneficial to play the game.”

Tickets can be purchased at the Liacouras Center box office or LiacourasCenter.com. Tickets are $20 for adults, $10 for students with valid ID and children 15 and under.
