Mark-Anthony Pounds begins his first season as an associate head coach of the Lincoln University (PA) men's basketball program in 2024-25.
He has also coached for nine years and is an Assistant Coach for the Barton College Men’s Basketball Team. He was named Head developmental Coach at Barton College in 2024. Mark was an Assistant with Barton during their 2007 NCAA Division II National Championship. Pounds also served coaching stints at North Carolina Central University and Carver Bible College.
Pounds also coached several seasons at Riverside High School in Durham, N.C., and was the Head Coach for the Carolina Crossovers Elite AAU Program.
Pounds, a native of Boston, Mass., played one season at Campbell University and two seasons at Barton College before finishing his career at Piedmont Baptist College. Pounds averaged 16.0 points, 5.3 assists, four bounds, and two steals and ranked fifth in the nation in field goal percentage. Pounds also played High School basketball at Northern High School (3 years) and Riverside High School(1 year) – both of Durham, N.C.
Pounds played semi-professional basketball for the Harlem Majestic Travel Team and the Capital City Ballers of the USBL and was part of the NC Pro-Am (“The Rucker of the South”) 2010 Team Navy Championship squad at North Carolina Central University.
Pounds Graduated from North Carolina Central University with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. He is also a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Incorporated, Rocky Mount NC Alumni chapter. Pounds served in the United States Navy Reserves for four years and has four children: Christian, Madison, Kennedy, and Morgan.
