Lions Split Road Doubleheader at Bowie State

BOWIE, MD – April 18, 2026 – The Lincoln University (PA) softball team split a CIAA doubleheader on the road against Bowie State, falling 1-8 in game one before responding with a 3-9 loss in game two.

Game 1 – Lincoln (PA) 1, Bowie State 8

Lincoln was limited to one run on five hits in the opener.

The Lions broke through in the sixth inning when Hayley Lawson (Laurel, DE) delivered an RBI double to account for the team's lone run. Ashley Stringer (Coatesville, PA/Coatesville High School) highlighted the offense with a triple, while Samiah Smith (Greenbelt, MD) and Amari Frederick (Woodbridge, VA) each added hits.

Lincoln had opportunities throughout, putting runners on base, but was unable to capitalize consistently.

Game 2 – Lincoln (PA) 3, Bowie State 9

Lincoln showed improvement offensively in game two but came up short.

The Lions got on the board early with a run in the first inning and added runs in the sixth and seventh innings. Breylin Gamble (Menifee, CA) led the way with two hits and a run scored, while Ashley Stringer (Coatesville, PA/Coatesville High School) added a hit and two stolen bases. Amari Frederick (Woodbridge, VA) contributed an RBI double.

Lincoln totaled five hits but was unable to close the gap late.
