RICHMOND, VA – April 10, 2026 – The Lincoln University (PA) softball team split a CACC doubleheader against Virginia Union on Friday, falling 8-7 in game one before dropping game two, 11-3.
Game 1 – Virginia Union 8, Lincoln (PA) 7
Lincoln put together a strong offensive effort but came up just short in an 8-7 loss in game one.
The Lions jumped out early with a run in the first and erupted for four runs in the third inning to take control. Lincoln added runs in the fifth and seventh innings to keep pressure on Virginia Union throughout the game.
Ashley Stringer (Coatesville, PA/Coatesville High School) led the offense with three hits, two runs scored, and an RBI, while Lincoln totaled nine hits in the contest. Desiree Fuller (Baltimore, MD) added two runs and reached base multiple times to help pace the lineup.
Virginia Union responded with timely hitting late to edge out the Lions in a close finish.
Game 2 – Virginia Union 11, Lincoln (PA) 3
In game two, Lincoln again showed early promise but fell 11-3.
The Lions scored all three of their runs in the second inning to take an early lead, but Virginia Union answered with runs across multiple innings to pull away.
Aliya Rose (Lutherville, Md./Maryvale Preperatory) led Lincoln offensively, going 2-for-3 with two RBIs, while the Lions recorded seven hits in the game.
