Bensalem, Pa. – March 11, 2026 – The Lincoln University (PA) softball team dropped both games of a non-conference doubleheader against Holy Family University on Wednesday afternoon at Bensalem High School. The Tigers claimed the opener 14-2 before securing a 3-0 victory in Game 2.
Game 1: Holy Family 14, Lincoln 2
Holy Family used a big first inning to take control of the opening game, scoring eight runs to build an early lead.
The Tigers added three runs in the second and three more in the third to extend their advantage. Lincoln answered in the third inning when Amari Frederick (Woodbridge, VA) doubled to drive in Desiree Fuller (Baltimore, MD). Frederick later stole home to account for the Lions' second run of the game.
Frederick finished with a hit, RBI, and run scored, while Fuller and Jordin Cathey (Long Beach, CA/Gahr High School) each added hits for the Lions.
Ashlynn Sherman (Coatesville, PA/Coatesville High School) provided two scoreless innings in relief to close out the game for Lincoln.
Game 2: Holy Family 3, Lincoln 0
The second game featured a much tighter contest as the Lions held Holy Family to just five hits.
The Tigers broke the scoreless tie in the third inning when Jaden Kelly delivered an RBI single before a passed ball allowed another run to score. Holy Family added an insurance run in the fifth inning on an RBI single from Rylee Hobel.
Lincoln was limited to two hits in the game, coming from Jordin Cathey (Long Beach, CA/Gahr High School) and Aliya Rose (Lutherville, Md./Maryvale Preperatory).
Ashlynn Sherman (Coatesville, PA/Coatesville High School) started in the circle and allowed two runs (one earned) over three innings. Breylin Gamble (Menifee, CA) pitched the final three innings, allowing one run while striking out three.
Despite the losses, the Lions showed improvement defensively in the second game, committing no errors and keeping the contest within reach late.
Lincoln will look to regroup as the team continues its early-season schedule.
