LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. – The Lincoln University (PA) women's soccer team looks to build on its shutout against Caldwell as the Lions prepare for two Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference matchups this week.
Lincoln travels to Jefferson on Tuesday, October 6, for a 3 p.m. kickoff at Ravenhill Field in Philadelphia before returning to LU Athletics Stadium to host the University of Bridgeport on Saturday, October 10, at noon.
Last Time Out
The Lions earned a conference point with a 0–0 draw against Caldwell on October 2, moving to 0–6–3 overall and 0–3–1 in CACC play.
Nicole Lilja (Lanham, MD) and
Nevaeh Washington (Philadelphia, PA) combined for five saves to secure the shutout. Lilja made one stop in the first half, while Washington recorded four after halftime.
Aleisa Clarke (Smyrna, DE) and
Kamaria Wright (Red Lion, PA) each played the full 90 minutes on the back line, helping Lincoln withstand six Caldwell corner kicks.
Breanna Steen (Bethel, CT) led the Lions offensively with two shots, both on goal, while
Briana Poullard (Elkton, MD) added another attempt. Lincoln will look to carry that defensive effort into the week while creating more opportunities in the attacking third.
Scouting Jefferson
Jefferson's recent conference results include a 2–0 victory over Caldwell, a 3–0 win against Goldey-Beacom and a 2–1 triumph at Chestnut Hill. Those three victories demonstrate the Rams' ability to limit opponents while finding timely goals.
For Lincoln, maintaining defensive shape and making accurate passes out of the back will be key to establishing possession. The Lions will also look to turn defensive stops into attacking opportunities and capitalize on set pieces.
Looking Ahead to Bridgeport
Saturday's matchup brings Lincoln back home for another opportunity to earn conference points. Bridgeport's posted CACC results include shutout victories against Caldwell, Chestnut Hill, Dominican and Georgian Court, presenting a challenging test for the Lions' attack.
Lincoln will look to build on the organization shown against Caldwell, stay connected through midfield and provide support around the ball when moving forward. Sustaining that defensive discipline while generating more shots will be an emphasis across both matches.
Up Next
Following the Bridgeport contest, Lincoln remains home to face Wilmington University on Wednesday, October 14, at 3:30 p.m. at LU Athletics Stadium.
