Lincoln University, PA - March 24, 2025 - The Lincoln University (PA) softball team had a blast this weekend in Raleigh, NC for the CIAA Roundup tournament. The Lions went 5-0 in tournament play against Shaw, Fayetteville State, Winston-Salem, Livingstone and Claflin, scoring 37 runs throughout the course of the tournament.

Game 1 Versus Shaw
The Lions won with a final score of 8-0. In just five innings, the Lions were able to rack up nine hits as a team, one of being a homerun from
Irlynn Richardson (Pittsburgh, Pa./Penn Hills).
Jordin Cathey (Long Beach, CA/Gahr High School) pitched a stellar shoutout, giving up just six hits and striking out four.

Game 2 Versus Fayetteville State
The Lions won with a final score of 13-1
. Ashlynn Stringer was a hitting machine, as she was able to go 3-4 on the day with two RBI's.
Tia Brown (Newark, N.Y./Newark) pitched a complete game, giving up four hits on one run with three strikeouts as well.

Game 3 Versus Winston-Salem
The Lions won with a final score of 4-3. This was a very close pitching matchup, all the way until the 7th inning, when
Kevyn Jones (Baltimore, Md./Paul Laurence Dunbar) grounded out to second. Despite this being an out, her resilience at the plate led to the tying run scoring, ultimately allowing Lincoln to score the winning run to walk off the game.

Game 4 Versus Livingstone
The Lions won with a final score of 10-4. By the bottom of the second inning, the Lions were down 0-4. It was
Chloe Foster's (Dresher, Pa./Upper Dublin) two-run double that tied the game, and after that moment, the Lions never took their foot off the gas, scoring six unanswered runs after that.
Veronica Tart (Dunn, NC) was a key player in this game, as she went 4-4 with two RBI's.

Game 5 Versus Claflin
The Lions won with a final score 2-1. Lincoln was scoreless until the 7th inning,
Irlynn Richardson (Pittsburgh, Pa./Penn Hills) and
Kevyn Jones (Baltimore, Md./Paul Laurence Dunbar) both hit singles in the top of the 7th, securing the team victory.
Aliya Rose (Lutherville, Md./Maryvale Preperatory) went 2-2 and drew a walk, and she also scored the game-tying run.
Cailyn Dove (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck Senior) also contributed to the team win, going 1-3 on the day as well.

The Lions look to continue their offensive spark when they return home on Wednesday, March 26, 2025 to play a doubleheader against Delaware State at 12:00 P.M. and 2:00 P.M
