Lions Shine at VMI Winter Relays with Standout Performances

Lexington, VA – February 3, 2025 – The Lincoln University (PA) track and field teams delivered strong performances at the VMI Winter Relays, highlighted by multiple top finishes and NCAA Division II rankings.

Women's Highlights

Senior Aisha Carrington (Baltimore, Md./Franklin) continued her dominance in the hurdles, finishing 2nd in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.67, ranking her 18th in Division II this season. Ida Rose Moore () also had a strong showing, placing 5th in the 60m hurdles with a 9.21 finish.

Senior Kamani Johns (Chester, Pa./Chester) showcased her versatility, winning the 800m in 2:16.38, earning her a #64 ranking in Division II. Freshman Leannah Jordan (Montclair, NJ/Montclair HS) also made her mark, finishing 7th in the 400m with a 59.47 time.

In the field events, senior Ida Rose Moore () placed 5th in the long jump with a mark of 5.16m (16-11.25), while freshman Gabrielle Lanier took 5th in the triple jump with a leap of 11.06m (36-03.50), ranking her 97th in Division II.

The women's 4x400m relay team of Leannah Jordan (Montclair, NJ/Montclair HS), Sabianka Alexis (Brooklyn,NY/New Visions Charter HS for Advanced Math and Science), Aniya Whitfield (Hatboro Horsham, PA/Upper Moreland HS), and Paris Talley (Philadelphia,PA/West Catholic HS) finished 3rd with a time of 3:57.71, while the distance medley relay team posted a Division II #24 ranking with a 13:50.43 finish.

Men's Highlights

Sophomore Asad Reese (Philadelphia,PA/Imhotep) was dominant in the 400m, securing 1st place with a season-best time of 49.29. Senior Nasir Scott (Levittown, Pa./Harriet Tubman) followed closely behind, placing 3rd in 50.57.

Senior Jude Butumbi (Philadelphia, Pa./Northeast) impressed in the long jump, finishing 2nd with a mark of 7.30m (23-11.50), placing him 22nd in Division II.

Freshman Nicolas Troupe (Rochester, NY/Benjamin Franklin Media Arts) showed promise in the sprints, placing 20th in the 200m with a time of 23.14, while Thomas Jones (Washington, DC/Coolidge HS) led the men's mid-distance efforts, finishing 9th in the 800m with a time of 2:02.03.

Lincoln's men's 4x400m relay team of Malachi Williams (Washington, DC/Coolidge HS), Jordan Hall (Randallstown, Md./Newtown), Nasir Scott (Levittown, Pa./Harriet Tubman), and Asad Reese (Philadelphia,PA/Imhotep) placed 5th in 3:32.85, capping off another strong meet for the Lions.

Looking Ahead

The Lions will return to competition at the Frank Colden Invitational, hosted by Ursinus College in Collegeville, PA, on Saturday, February 8, 2025.
