Richmond, VA – February 1, 2025 – The Lincoln University (PA) men's basketball team continued their impressive run in CIAA play, securing a 72-56 road victory over Virginia Union University. With the win, the Lions improve to 15-7 overall and remain undefeated in conference play at 10-1.
Lincoln controlled the game with efficient shooting, finishing at 50% from the field while holding Virginia Union to 37.3% shooting. The Lions' defense was stifling, forcing 17 turnovers and converting them into 27 points off turnovers.
Bakir Cleveland (Newark, N.J./University) led the charge with 18 points, 9 rebounds, and 5 assists, making an impact on both ends of the floor. Ethan Garita (Trenton, N.J./Princeton Day School) followed closely with 16 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 assists, continuing his consistent scoring presence. Manny Toha (Newark, N.J./Marist) provided a key spark, adding 11 points on an efficient 4-of-6 shooting.
After a back-and-forth first half, Lincoln entered halftime with a slim 32-30 lead. The Lions took control in the second half, outscoring Virginia Union 40-26, fueled by strong shooting and defensive pressure.
Lincoln will look to continue their CIAA dominance when they travel to Virginia State University on Saturday, February 8, for a 7:30 PM matchup in Petersburg, VA.
