ETTRICK, VA – The Lincoln University (PA) men's basketball team struggled offensively in the second half, falling to Virginia State University 70-55 on the road. The loss moves the Lions to 15-8 overall and 10-2 in CIAA play as they prepare for a rematch with the Trojans next week.
The Lions battled through a highly competitive first half, exchanging leads 17 times before heading into halftime trailing by just one point (37-38). However, Virginia State controlled the second half, outscoring Lincoln 32-18 while limiting the Lions to just 22% shooting from the field.
Reggie Hudson (Bronx, N.Y./St. Raymond's) led the way for Lincoln, scoring 17 points while adding 6 rebounds and 2 steals. Bakir Cleveland (Newark, N.J./University) contributed 11 points and 4 steals, while Ethan Garita (Trenton, N.J./Princeton Day School) chipped in with 6 points and 3 rebounds.
Lincoln will look to bounce back when they host Elizabeth City State in a highly anticipated matchup on Wednesday, February 12, at 7:30 p.m. at Bobby Morgan Arena in Philadelphia.
