Wilmington, De. – Dec. 15, 2025 – Lincoln University women's basketball returned to action at home against Winston-Salem State University, opening the contest with strong energy before a challenging second quarter shifted momentum in a 47-58 setback inside Chase Fieldhouse. With the loss, the Lions move to 2–8 on the season.
Anyia Gibson (Edgewood, MD/) led Lincoln with an outstanding all-around performance, shooting a perfect 6-for-6 from the field to score 13 points while adding 4 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 blocks, and a steal.
Serenity Burgess (Coatesville, PA) provided a steady offensive presence, finishing with 12 points on 50 percent shooting and pulling down 5 rebounds to help keep Lincoln competitive.
Defensively,
Riley Holliday (Baltimore, MD/) anchored the glass with a dominant rebounding effort, collecting 11 boards while contributing 3 assists, 2 steals, and 2 points. Her activity on the defensive end helped limit second-chance opportunities late and kept the Lions within reach.
Despite the strong individual performances, Lincoln struggled with ball security, allowing 30 points off turnovers and conceding 14 second-chance points, which proved to be the difference. The Lions showed resilience in the paint, using physical play to stay in the contest through three quarters, but were unable to fully recover from the second-quarter scoring drought.
