BOWIE, Md. – October 19, 2025 – The Lincoln University (PA) women's volleyball team wrapped up play at the CIAA Volleyball Round-Up #2 this weekend, competing in three matches against some of the conference's toughest opponents — Claflin University, Winston-Salem State University, and Johnson C. Smith University — inside A.C. Jordan Arena.
Claflin 3, Lincoln 0 – Match Recap
Lincoln opened the weekend with one of its most competitive performances of the season, falling in three sets (25–22, 25–8, 25–18) to Claflin. Elise Carter (Smyrna, DE/Smyrna HS) led the attack with seven kills and four digs, while Charly Manley (Upper Marlboro, MD/Frederick Douglass HS) added six kills and a pair of service aces. Setter Ashley Fru (Brandywine, MD) posted 11 assists and four service aces, and Audreynette Lydgate (Bowie, MD/Charles Herbert Flowers HS) chipped in four kills and two blocks.
Winston-Salem State 3, Lincoln 0 – Match Recap
The Lions showed resilience in their second match of the day, dropping a 3–0 decision (25–4, 25–13, 25–17) to a strong Winston-Salem State team. Manley led the way with five kills and two assists, while Fru added five assists, six digs, and two blocks. Carter tallied three kills and an ace, and Liani Figueroa (Brooklyn,NY) provided solid defensive coverage with six digs.
Johnson C. Smith 3, Lincoln 0 – Match Recap
Lincoln closed out the weekend against Johnson C. Smith, falling 3–0 (25–19, 25–9, 25–12) in a match that showcased the Lions' continued growth. Audreynette Lydgate (Bowie, MD/Charles Herbert Flowers HS) recorded a team-high 10 kills and 10 digs for a double-double, while Carter added six kills and seven digs. Donavyn Morris (Chester, PA) contributed nine digs and steady passing on the back line, and Fru tallied eight assists.
The Lions (0–21, 0–11 CIAA) return to Oxford, Pa., for a midweek home matchup against Cheyney University on Wednesday, October 22, at 7 p.m. inside Oxford High School.
