Wilmington, DE – January 4, 2025 – The Lincoln University (PA) men's basketball team remained undefeated in CIAA play, earning a hard-fought 76-68 victory over Shaw University in front of a packed crowd at Goldey-Beacom College. With this win, the Lions improve to 9-5 overall and 4-0 in CIAA action, extending their winning streak to five games.
Senior Bakir Cleveland (Newark, N.J./University) led the Lions with 19 points, shooting an impressive 5-of-7 from three-point range, while adding 6 rebounds and 3 assists. Senior Reggie Hudson (Bronx, N.Y./St. Raymond's) was pivotal in the backcourt, contributing 17 points, 5 rebounds, and 6 assists. Senior Ethan Garita (Trenton, N.J./Princeton Day School) added 10 points and 4 rebounds, while senior Freddie Young, Jr. (Ewing, N.J./Trenton Catholic) came off the bench with 14 points, shooting 6-of-8 from the field, including key baskets down the stretch.
Lincoln's efficient offense was on full display, shooting 49.1% from the field and 47.1% from beyond the arc. The Lions capitalized on Shaw's mistakes, scoring 15 points off turnovers, while also controlling the pace with 34 points in the paint and 17 fast-break points. After leading 32-28 at halftime, Lincoln maintained their composure through multiple Shaw runs to close out the victory.
The Lions will look to keep their perfect CIAA record intact as they face Fayetteville State University on Monday, January 6, 2025, at 7:30 p.m. in Philadelphia, PA, another one of Lincoln's temporary home venues this season.
