New York, NY – January 19, 2025 – The Lincoln University (PA) track and field teams delivered standout performances at the HBCU Showcase, held at The Armory. Competing against some of the top programs in the region, the Lions shone with notable results across multiple events, highlighted by senior leadership and emerging talent.
Women's Highlights:
Senior Kamani Johns (Chester, Pa./Chester) led the way with a dominant performance in the 400m, finishing 2nd overall with a blazing time of 55.11, currently ranked 4th in Division II for 2025. Senior Aisha Carrington (Baltimore, Md./Franklin) also impressed in the 60m hurdles, advancing to the finals and placing 6th with a time of 8.78, which ranks her 23rd in Division II this season.
Freshman Sabianka Alexis (Brooklyn,NY/New Visions Charter HS for Advanced Math and Science) displayed her versatility, clocking 26.58 in the 200m and anchoring the women's 4x400m relay team, which finished 9th overall with a time of 4:01.53. Freshman Gabrielle Lanier contributed in the triple jump, securing 8th place with a leap of 10.76m (35-03.75).
Men's Highlights:
Senior Jude Butumbi (Philadelphia, Pa./Northeast) excelled in the long jump, finishing 4th overall with a mark of 7.16m (23-06.00), ranking 35th in Division II this season. Freshman Malachi Williams (Washington, DC/Coolidge HS) showed his promise in the 500m, securing 5th place with a time of 1:08.25, while sophomore Asad Reese (Philadelphia,PA/Imhotep) led the Lions in the 200m, clocking 22.49 for 31st place.
The men's 4x400m relay team of Malachi Williams (Washington, DC/Coolidge HS), Jordan Hall (Randallstown, Md./Newtown), Nasir Scott (Levittown, Pa./Harriet Tubman), and Asad Reese (Philadelphia,PA/Imhotep) delivered a strong performance, finishing 6th with a time of 3:21.37, currently ranked 33rd in Division II.
With standout efforts from veterans and rising stars alike, Lincoln continues to build momentum in their indoor season. The Lions will next compete at the HBCU Classic on Saturday, January 25, 2025, as they return to The Armory in New York, NY.
