Virginia Beach, VA – January 13, 2025 – The Lincoln University (PA) track and field team delivered a strong showing at the VCU-hosted meet, highlighted by standout performances across multiple events. Both the men's and women's teams put together impressive results, with several athletes placing in the top 10 in highly competitive fields.
On the women's side, senior Kamani Johns (Chester, Pa./Chester) led the way, finishing 2nd in the 500m with a new personal record of 1:15.21, just narrowly missing first place. Senior Aisha Carrington (Baltimore, Md./Franklin) continued her strong season, advancing to the 60m hurdles finals after clocking 9.02 seconds in the prelims and ultimately placing 5th in the finals with a time of 9.09 seconds. In the 800m, senior Jazlynn Church (Wilmington, Del./The Charter School) placed 5th, finishing in 2:30.21, while freshman Gabrielle Lanier impressed in the triple jump, securing 9th place with a leap of 10.98m.
For the men's team, senior Jordan Hall (Randallstown, Md./Newtown) had a standout meet, finishing 6th in the 60m hurdles finals with a time of 8.45 seconds after qualifying 5th in the prelims. Hall also shined in the 300m, placing 7th overall with a time of 35.45 seconds, further cementing his status as a key performer for the Lions. Sophomore Asad Reese (Philadelphia,PA/Imhotep) excelled in the 500m, finishing 4th overall with a time of 1:06.84, followed closely by freshman Malachi Williams (Washington, DC/Coolidge HS), who placed 8th in 1:09.11.
Senior Nasir Scott (Levittown, Pa./Harriet Tubman) delivered solid performances in both the 200m and 400m, finishing 23rd in the 200m with a time of 23.06 seconds and 11th in the 400m in 51.76 seconds.
Despite some last-minute scratches in the relay events, the Lions showcased their depth and competitiveness, with several newcomers stepping up and making an impact. The team now shifts its focus to the upcoming HBCU Classic, set to be held in New York, NY, on Saturday, January 18, 2025.
