Lincoln University, PA - August 13, 2024 - The Lincoln University (PA) Lions released their football schedule for the 2024 season. With the season set to kick off on September 5th, the team looks to start the season strong.
Season Kickoff and Key Games
The season opener is slated for September 5th, which starts at 6 p.m. with the Lions heading to Clarion, Pennsylvania for a match up with the Golden Eagles. Following the match up at Clarion the team will have a strong schedule ahead of them that includes an update to their schedule where they were previously playing St. Augustine College and now are playing a game against Johnson C. Smith University on the 14th starting at 1 p.m. Following that game the team will face the Bears of Shaw University on the 21st which starts at 1 p.m. They will go into the month of October opening it up with a match up against Morgan State University on the 5th.
Homecoming
The homecoming for Lincoln University (PA) is October 12, the Lions will face Bluefield State University. The game which starts at 1 p.m. here on campus will be one for the record books as the Lions will look to have a strong showing in front of the roaring fans which will be a mixture of alumni and current Lincoln University (PA) student's.
Closing the Season
To close the season the Lions will face off against Virginia State University on November 2nd. The season will conclude in Bowie,MD with a match up against longtime rival Bowie State on November 9th, starting at 1 p.m.
Team Outlook
Head Coach
Frank Turner shared his thoughts on the upcoming season, emphasizing the importance of discipline, execution, and tenacity. "If we play up to our standard, we should be a good football team this year. We must learn how to be the hunter and do what hunters do: 'FINISH.' I'm very excited about this group and the future of this program," said Coach Turner.
Following a season that saw the Lions finish with a 4-6 record their best since the program was reinstated in 2008—there is an air of optimism surrounding the team. With the return of key players, including All-Conference athletes
Isaiah Freeman (Chester, Pa./STEM Academy High School) and
Malachi Langley (Chester, Pa./Chester High School).
