Winston-Salem, NC – December 19, 2024 – The Lincoln University (PA) women's basketball team earned a decisive 65-45 victory over Winston-Salem State University in a key CIAA road matchup at the CE Gaines Center. The Lions showcased balanced scoring and defensive intensity to secure their third conference win of the season.
Senior Ciani Montgomery (Philadelphia, Pa./West Catholic Prep) delivered an outstanding performance, leading all scorers with 34 points on 15-of-22 shooting, including three three-pointers, while adding 5 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals. Senior Anyssa Fields (Long Branch, N.J./Long Branch) contributed across the board with 12 points, 9 rebounds, 7 assists, and 3 steals, while junior Kaziah Akinniyi (Baltimore, Md./Poly) added defensive grit with 2 points, 3 rebounds, and a block.
The Lions set the tone early, building a 21-11 lead in the first quarter and holding Winston-Salem to just 9 points in the fourth quarter. Lincoln's defense was a standout, forcing 23 turnovers and converting them into 34 points. Offensively, they dominated the paint with 36 points inside and shot an efficient 49.1% from the field.
With the win, Lincoln improves to 5-7 overall and 2-1 in the CIAA. The Lions will look to continue their momentum as they head to Livingstone College in Salisbury, NC, for their next game on Sunday, December 22, 2024, at 2 p.m..
