Bloomfield, NJ – December 12, 2024 – The Lincoln University (PA) women's basketball team secured a thrilling 67-61 road victory over Bloomfield College, overcoming an early deficit with a strong second-half surge to claim their third win of the season.
Senior Anyssa Fields (Long Branch, N.J./Long Branch) led the Lions with a standout performance, scoring 21 points, grabbing 8 rebounds, and adding 2 steals. Freshman Ariana Makumi (Baltimore, MD/Baltimore Poly) also shined with 11 points and 6 rebounds, while junior Kaziah Akinniyi (Baltimore, Md./Poly) contributed 9 points, 5 rebounds, and a pair of assists.
After trailing 25-14 at the end of the first quarter, the Lions tightened up defensively, holding Bloomfield to just 7 points in the second quarter. Lincoln outscored Bloomfield 38-29 in the second half, highlighted by clutch free throws and critical defensive stops down the stretch.
The Lions dominated the boards with 48 rebounds, including 19 offensive, and scored 28 points in the paint. Lincoln also capitalized on Bloomfield's turnovers, securing 10 points off miscues.
With this win, the Lions improve to 3-7 overall and shift their focus to their next conference matchup against Johnson C. Smith University on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at 11 a.m. in Charlotte, NC.
