New York, NY – November 22, 2024 – The Lincoln University (PA) women's basketball team fell short in a hard-fought battle against Felician University, losing 76-85. Despite a dominant start, the Lions couldn't hold off Felician's second-half surge.
The Lions stormed out to an impressive 31-12 lead after the first quarter, showcasing a balanced attack and strong defensive energy. However, Felician found their rhythm in the second quarter, outscoring Lincoln 26-13, and continued to build momentum throughout the second half.
Senior Ciani Montgomery (Philadelphia, Pa./West Catholic Prep) delivered a standout performance, leading all scorers with 25 points while adding 8 assists, 7 rebounds, and 2 steals. Senior Anyssa Fields (Long Branch, N.J./Long Branch) chipped in with 16 points, 9 rebounds, and 5 steals, while freshman Ariana Makumi (Baltimore, MD/Baltimore Poly) contributed 8 points, going a perfect 4-for-4 from the free-throw line.
Despite shooting 40.3% from the field and an impressive 92.9% from the free-throw line, the Lions struggled from three-point range, hitting only 5-of-20 attempts. Turnovers and Felician's efficient second-half shooting (71.4% in the third quarter) proved costly for Lincoln.
The Lions will look to bounce back in their next game against East Stroudsburg University in East Stroudsburg, PA, on November 25, 2024, at 7 p.m.
