East Stroudsburg, PA – November 26, 2024 – The Lincoln University (PA) women's basketball team put up a tough fight but ultimately fell to East Stroudsburg University, 62-74, at Koehler Fieldhouse.
The Lions started strong, leading 11-10 after the first quarter and maintaining a narrow advantage into halftime at 30-22. However, East Stroudsburg surged in the second half, outscoring Lincoln 28-17 in the third quarter and 24-15 in the fourth to seal the win.
Senior Anyssa Fields (Long Branch, N.J./Long Branch) led the Lions with a double-double, scoring 21 points and grabbing 11 rebounds while adding a block and a steal. Senior Anyia Gibson (Edgewood, MD/) had an impressive showing with 17 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 steals, while senior Ciani Montgomery (Philadelphia, Pa./West Catholic Prep) contributed 10 points, 4 steals, and 2 assists.
The Lions shot 40.4% from the field and dominated the paint with 30 points. However, turnovers (19 total) and East Stroudsburg's strong third-quarter shooting proved costly.
The Lions will regroup and prepare for their home opener against Cheyney University of Pennsylvania on December 5, 2024, at 5:30 p.m., where they'll look to bounce back in front of their fans.
