California, PA – November 19, 2024 – The Lincoln University (PA) men's basketball team faced a formidable challenge against the No. 4-ranked California University of Pennsylvania, falling 52-84 at the Convocation Center.
Despite a slow first half that saw Lincoln trailing 39-21, the Lions fought hard to close the gap in the second half, but the Vulcans' offensive efficiency proved too much.
Senior Reggie Hudson (Bronx, N.Y./St. Raymond's) led the Lions with 13 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 steals, while sophomore Ahmir Moore (Harlem, NY/St. Raymond High School For Boys) contributed 10 points, including two three-pointers. Senior DJ Watkins (Somerset, NJ/) added 6 points, hitting both his three-point attempts, and senior Bakir Cleveland (Newark, N.J./University) chipped in with 4 points and 6 rebounds.
California (PA) leveraged its depth, outscoring Lincoln 32-18 in the paint and out rebounding them 59-40. The Lions struggled with their shooting, connecting on just 28.8% of their field goals and 24% of their three-point attempts.
Lincoln will aim to bounce back in the Harlem Renaissance Classic, where they face Molloy University in Rockville Centre, NY, on November 25, 2024, at 3 p.m.
