Women's Volleyball Comes Away With Win vs. Livingstone In CIAA Round UP #1

Winston Salem, NC, October 7, 2024 - The Lincoln University (PA) women's volleyball team ended the CIAA round up #1 with the team's first win of the season, the Lions ended the weekend with 2 loses and one win against the Livingstone Blue Bears.
 
The Lions started the weekend off with a slow start as they ended up losing to Shaw University in three sets (3-25, 18-25, 11-25), while also losing to Fayetteville State in five sets (16-25, 17-25, 25-23, 25-15, 8-15), and winning against Livingstone College in four sets (25-20, 25-17, 14-25, 25-17)
 
The game against Livingstone College marks the team's first win of the season and Latifa Raheem's first win as head coach of the team.
 
The team was led by Kendra Williams (Dover, Del./Dover) in kills during the tournament as she finished with 25 kills during the teams three games, while Elise Carter () followed in kills with 23 over three games both student athletes were the anchors to a very strong weekend for the Lions.
 
On defense Laila Newborn (Ardmore, Pa./Lower Merion) led the team in digs with 27 in the tournament while Newborn also led the team in blocks with nine. Davion Blanchard (New Castle, Pa./New Castle) was not to far behind in digs with 24 in three games and 10 digs in the game with the blue bears.
 
The Lincoln University (PA) women's volleyball team will be competing against more conference competition this week as they travel to Elizabeth City, NC to face Elizabeth City State University Thursday October 10, 2024, with game time starting at 6 p.m.
