Young Lions Show Glimpse Of Future In Doubleheader at Mercy

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. – The Lincoln University of Pennsylvania baseball program leaned heavily into its youth movement during the middle games of the weekend set, relying primarily on freshmen and sophomores which showed signs of promise for the team moving forward despite the final scores of 9-1 and 8-3.

Lincoln (PA) Top Performers:

  • Two of the more exciting players set to return for Coach Pla included the Greenidge twins, Jalen, and Jaden, with those two being the only Lions to record hits in both ballgames.

  • Jalen Greenidge (Richmond, Va./Monacan) logged three hits, scored a run, and drove home the lone RBI of game one with a sacrifice fly to score Josh Shepherd (Bowie, Md./Bowie), who had tripled just two batters prior.

  • Jaden Greenidge (Richmond, Va./Monacan) had one single apiece as he improved his hitting streak to a modest five in-a-row.

  • Damaal Sands (Nassau, Bahamas/Monteverde Academy) and Alex Jones (Bear, Del./Appoquinimink), while both juniors, are slated to run it back one more time, went 4-for-7 (.571) with a pair of scores plus a ribbie between them.

  • Freshman Solomon Devard (Bear, Del./MOT Charter) tacked on his first triple as a collegian and nearly an inside-the-park home run, but he had to settle for the three-bagger that drove in Sands and Jones after a perfect relay gunned him down at the dish.

  • Lastly, sophomore Miguel Agramonte (Fallston, Md./Fallston) made his only knock of the game count, battering the ball into the rightfield corner for a double.

Next:

  • The Orange and Blue hope to head into the offseason victorious when they attempt to spoil the Mavericks' Senior Day at 3:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon.
