Men’s Basketball Falls In Overtime At Virginia Union


RICHMOND, Va. – The Lincoln University of Pennsylvania men's basketball program tacked on an extra five minutes of game action against the Atlantic Region's sixth-seeded Panthers, but seven unanswered Virginia Union points to begin overtime were too much to overcome in a 74-72 setback.

  • Korey Williams (Brooklyn, N.Y./LaSalle Academy) was on fire from distance, tying his career-high of six three-pointers on 13 attempts (46.2%) en route to a team-best 25 points with two assists, two rebounds and ust one turnover sprinkled in.
 
  • Reggie Hudson (Bronx, N.Y./St. Raymond's) played a career-high 43 minutes out of 45 and was solid on the scoring end with 14 points but the Bronx native did a fair amount of damage in other areas. He logged contest-bests of four assists and three steals plus tied with Bakir Cleveland (Newark, N.J./University) for the rebounding lead at five.
 
  • Cleveland dropped a dozen points on the board along with the team's co-lead in the post, converting on more than half of his tries from the floor (5-for-9, 55.6%).
 
  • Ethan Garita (Trenton, N.J./Princeton Day School) was the final of four Lions to crack double-digits in the scoring department, producing 11 while nailing his third career long ball.

  • Wednesday nights' Battle of the Big Cats was the squad's second overtime bout of the campaign, falling to West Chester in the season opener, 83-81.
 
  • It has been almost three full years to the day that LU has come away victorious after being tied at the end of regulation, last prevailing on January 20, 2020 versus Elizabeth City State (102-100).
 
  • The Orange and Blue knocked down a season-high 12 three-pointers on the night as more than half of its made field goals were from behind the arc (12-of-22, 54.5%).
