Freeman, Triplett honored by CIAA

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A pair of Lincoln University football players were honored by the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association for their in-game performances in Saturday's win over Central State, the league announced today.

Freshman quarterback Isaiah Freeman (Chester, PA/STEM Academy), in his first collegiate start, was named CIAA Rookie of the Week, while junior Dah'mear Triplett (Elkton, Md./Elkton) was named CIAA Receiver of the Week.

Freeman led the team in rushing with 70 yards on 12 attempts for an average of 5.8 yards. He added 140 yards and two touchdowns.

"I couldn't be more impressed with the poise of Isaiah Freeman (Chester, PA/STEM Academy)," said Lincoln University Head Football Coach Josh Dean. "As impressive as he is on the field on Saturday, it's his work ethic and command of the offense that he brings to practice and the meetings that make him special. He continues to improve week to week which is a great thing for our program."

Triplett did most of his damage in the second half as the Lions scored all 26 points after halftime. He finished with 96 yards on four receptions and two touchdowns.

"Glad to see Dah'mear Triplett (Elkton, Md./Elkton) have a breakout game like he did this past week. He is our guy that we expect to win every match-up, and he showed why with his performance in the second half."

Lincoln (1-1) opens the home portion of its schedule 7 p.m. Saturday, hosting CIAA-North favorite Fayetteville State.
