SEASON PREVIEW: 2022 Lincoln Women's Soccer

It's the dawn of a new era for the Lincoln University women's soccer program.

Former assistant coach Sal Minor took over the reins for the 2022 season on an interim basis just two weeks prior to the start of the season.

"Having been around the program over the past couple of seasons, I believe we are putting the pieces together to build a good program," said Minor. "One of the goal is to constantly gain improvements every day, no matter how small they are, because those improvements over time will lead to massive gains on and off the field. With the addition of knowledgeable and skillful incoming players, I believe we can make improvements toward a successful season."

Sophomore Parker Moss (Elmira, N.Y./Elmira), a second-team All-ECC selection, returns to lead the Lions. She launched a team-high 24 shots, including 11 on goal, finishing with one goal and one assist.

"Parker Moss (Elmira, N.Y./Elmira) is an exceptional player who is capable of playing almost every position on the field," said Minor. "After watching her play last year, her technical ability and experience of the game will be crucial to the overall team success. She has been successful in every role asked to play. Parker will be used primarily in the midfield to help the offense succeed."

Senior Kianna Lee (Port of Spain, Trinidad & Tobago/East Stroudsburg North (PA)) is the only other person on the roster that scored a goal for Lincoln last season, finishing with one goal and one assist. Sophomore Jolyn Walleenkendeh, a transfer from Penn State Brandywine, was a prolific goal scorer with 30 total points, 14 goals and two assists.

Freshmen Agustina Lorda (Montevideo, Uruguay/Juan XXIII) and Oshynn Cosom (Mount Holly, N.J./Bordentown Regional) will also add some punch to the scoring attack. Sophomore Ah'Nazha Jackson (Philadelphia, Pa./Central) and freshman Calista Daye (Pottstown, Pa. /Pottstown) will assist the Lions' efforts either in the defense or midfield.

Sophomore Dominique Duvil (Long Island, N.Y./The Mary Louis Academy) moves between the pipes for the Lions this season. Returners Kirsten Edwards (Baltimore, Md./Mercy), Grace Quiah (Philadelphia, Pa./John Bartram), Kenya Cargill (Orangeville, Ontario/Orangeville) and Taylor Allen (Willingboro, N.J./Burlington Co. Tech) will aid her goalkeeping efforts from the backline. Senior Sam McFarlane (New Rochelle, N.Y./Mount Vernon) returns to the pitch after missing last season, and freshman Justyce King (Naperville, Ill./Metea Valley) also will help shore up the defensive efforts.

"Our team has four core philosophy; communication, teamwork, discipline and chemistry," said Minor. "Our players will trust and play for each other which will be essential to the team's overall goal. Lastly, the team will be different this season by communicating well, working together as one unit, staying discipline even when things aren't going our way, and finally by building chemistry through practice, film session, team bonding, and just having fun."

Lincoln begins the season 2 p.m. September 1, traveling to Dominican.
