WXC earns highest CIAA finish since 2016

SALEM, VA – Five of the six Lincoln University runners registered career-best 5K times as the Lions earned its highest finish since 2016 in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship Thursday at Green Hill Park.
 
Sophomore Kamani Johns led Lincoln to a fourth-place finish in the 10-team championship meet. She just missed earning all-conference honors with her 16th-place finish in 20:59.6, a 71-second improvement. 
 
Freshman Jazlynn Church shaved almost a minute off her previous 5K mark, placing 21st in 21:30. She was followed by junior Jazmin Savage, who placed 23rd in 21:33.4 for a 37-second improvement. 
 
Freshmen Avionne Barnes and Amani Adams were the last two runners to score for the Lions, finishing in 30th and 34th places, respectively. Barnes was 25 seconds better than her previous mark, finishing the course in 22:33.5, while Adams completed the course in 23:10.1, more than a minute better than her previous high-water mark.
 
Sophomore Destiny Pierre-Mathieu posted the time of 23:19.3, and Angel Adams finished in 24:58.9.
