Krystahl Gordon (Fredriksted, V.I./Saint Croix Edu Complex) was the top performer from Lincoln University as the women's track and field team competed at the NYC Gotham Cup at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island on Friday afternoon.
A total of 36 schools and clubs competed in the meet, coming from as far away as California. There was no team scoring.
Gordon was one of four Lincoln competitors to record either an indoor personal best or overall personal best in the meet. Competing in the triple jump, Gordon leaped to an indoor personal best mark of 11.29 meters (37'½") placing fourth overall among the 33 competitors that crossed all three NCAA divisions. The junior jumper also competed in the 60-meter dash, recording a personal best mark of 8.27 seconds while finishing second in her heat and 25
th overall among 62 entries.
An indoor personal best was also recorded by
Lacendria Pulley (Essex, Md./Baltimore Polytech) in the 200-meter dash. Pulley placed 13
th overall with a time of 26.68 seconds. Pulley also finished 19
th overall in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.20 seconds.
Personal best marks were also set by amber Glenn in the 3000-meter run and
Alijah Dunkins (Hamilton, N.J./Hamilton) in the 60-meter hurdles. Glenn completed her race in 12:01.03, placing 24
th overall while Dunkins finished her hurdles race in 10.09 seconds and was 26
th overall.
Keyana Brooks (Philadelphia, Pa./Hopewell Valley Central (N.J.)) rounded out the Lions competitors placing 21
st in the shot put competition with a throw of 10.62 meters (34' 10¼").
The women's track and field team returns to action on Saturday, January 25, 2020 when the compete at the Collegeville classic, hosted by Ursinus College in Collegeville, Pennsylvania.
