Lincoln University, Pa. - The Lincoln University women's basketball team begins their second half of conference divisional play on Saturday as they host regionally ranked Bowie State University at Manuel Rivero Hall.
The Series:
Saturday's game will be the 32
nd meeting between Lincoln and Bowie State. The Bulldogs lead the series 20-11 with the Lions winning their last three contests, sweeping the season series in 2017-18 and winning their last meeting at Bowie State, 66-61 on January 19.

The Lincoln University women's basketball team held off a late rally from Virginia State University to defeat the Trojans 51-49 Saturday afternoon at the VSU Multipurpose Center in Ettrick, Virginia.
The win, Lincoln's first ever at the VSU Multipurpose Center, pushes the Lions record to 13-10 overall and 7-5 in Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) games. The Lions are also 4-1 in CIAA North Division contests. VSU falls to 8-11 overall, 2-9 in league play and 1-4 in North division contests.

Four players scored in double figures as the Lincoln University Women's basketball team upset regionally ranked Bowie State University, 66-61 Saturday afternoon at the A.C. Jordan Arena in Bowie, Maryland.
The win is the Lions third straight as they improve to 10-9 overall, 4-4 in Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association games and 1-0 in CIAA North Division games. The win also snaps Bowie State's 14 game winning streak and is the Bulldogs first loss at home. BSU falls to 15-2 overall, 7-1 in league play (0-1 North Division). The Bulldogs were ranked fourth in this week's d@SIDA Atlantic region Media Poll and were receiving votes in the D2SIDA national poll

DeAshia Young (Detroit, Mich./Detroit Public Safety Academy (Labette CC)) has been named the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association women's basketball Newcomer of the week for her performance in the Lions two games during the week ending February 3, 2019
In leading the Lions to a 2-0 week, Young scored 29 points, had 11 rebounds and eight assists as Lincoln picked up two key divisional roads wins against Chowan University and Virginia State University.
Young scored the basket that put the Lions ahead for good in their win at Virginia State University on Saturday. She then added another in the final minute to give LU a three-point lead. She led the team with 17 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals. The Lions' 51-49 victory was their first ever at VSU's Multipurpose Center.
Against Chowan, Young pumped in 12 points, grabbed six rebounds, and dished out four assists in Lincoln's 77-51 win.
For the week, Young averaged 14.5 points, 5.5 assists, four assists and 1.5 steals. The junior guard shot 45.5% from the field and 75% from three-point range.

Lions Notch 100
Against Wilmington University on New Year's Eve, the Lions scored 100 points for the first time in program history, defeating the Wildcats 100-65. In recording a 100-point game, the team eclipses their previous high mark of 96 points, achieved twice, most recently against Wilmington in November 2015 and first reached against Christendom College during the 2000-01 season.

The Bulldogs are 17-4 overall and 9-3 in CIAA games. BSU is also 2-3 in CIAA North Division games with wins over Chowan and Elizabeth City State University. Bowie State is 9-0 in road contests this season.
Kyaja Williams leads the team, averaging 13.7 points, 8.4 rebounds and 2.4 steals per game. Williams also has a team-high 18 blocks. Teammate Pere Alexander joins williams in double figures, averaging 11.2 points, 6.9 rebounds and 1.9 steals per game. Shawnkia McCallum leads the team with 54 assists while Chyna Butler has 15 blocks.

The Bowie State University women's basketball team bounced back in style after defeating Elizabeth City State University, 70-53 to pick up their second division victory in the A.C. Jordan Arena on Saturday. The win improves the Bulldogs 17-4, 9-3 in the CIAA and 2-3 in division play.
