The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association announced their post season award winners at their CIAA Tournament Tipoff Banquet Monday morning. The Lincoln University men's basketball team placed two players on the All-CIAA Team and for the second consecutive season, placed two on the conference's All-Rookie Team.
Junior
Cameron Campbell (Fayetteville, N.C./Trinity Christian) and sophomore
Deaquan Williams (Camden, N.J./Camden) were named to the the 12-man All-CIAA Team with Campbell selected as an all-CIAA backcourt honoree and Williams as an all-CIAA Frontcourt honoree. Freshman
Zahrion Blue (Princeton, N.J./Princeton) and
Tamir Green (Philadelphia, Pa./Constitution) were named to the CIAA all-Rookie Team.
Campbell led the Lions this season in scoring, averaging 14.5 points per game ranking 11
th in the CIAA. The junior guard also leads the team with 59 three-point field goals and a 37.8 three-point field goal percentage. Campbell is third on the team with 22 steals and became just the third Lincoln player in the Lions division II era to score over 400 points in one season (407).
Williams, an All-CIAA Rookie Team selection last season leads the team in rebounding and is second in the CIAA averaging 9.8 rebounds per game. His rebound average also ranks 25
th among all NCAA Division II players. His 250 rebounds is the highest total by any Lincoln player in the program's Division II era and ranks among the top 15 all-time in Lincoln history. Williams also ranks second in the conference (19
th nationally) in total rebounds, offensive rebounds per game (20
th nationally) and double-doubles (11).
Blue has recorded seven double-doubles on the season and is the Lions third leading scorer, averaging 9.4 points per game. Blue is second on the team in rebounding, averaging 6.4 per game and leads the team with 36 steals (11
th in CIAA).
Green leads the team with 107 assists and a 4.1 assists per game average (both fifth best among CIAA players). He is averaging 6.9 points per game and is second on the team behind Blue with 33 steals.
The two freshman guards have both earned CIAA Rookie of the Week honors this season.
The men's basketball team, seeded #4in the north, opens tournament play on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 with a game against St. Augustine's (#5 South) at 6:40 p.m. at the Bojangles Arena in Charlotte, North Carolina.
