Bowie State's David Belle sank a three-point field goal with 5.9 seconds left as the Bulldogs rallied to defeat the Lincoln University men's basketball team 79-78 in front of a packed house at Manuel Rivero Hall Saturday afternoon.

The loss drops the Lions record to 12-12 overall and 5-8 in Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association games. Bowie State improves to 14-10 overall and 10-3 in league play.

The Lions placed five players in double figures, led by
Cameron Campbell's (Fayetteville, N.C./Trinity Christian) 21 points.
Gevon Arrington (Petersburg, Va./Petersburg (Richard Bland)) came off the bench to score 18 points while
Josh Page (Washington, D.C./Rock Creek Christian Academy) added 12.Â
Bernard Lightsey (Philadelphia, Pa./Imhotep Charter) chipped in 11, all in the second half while
Deaquan Williams (Camden, N.J./Camden) added 10 points.  Williams also grabbed 14 rebounds to record his 11
th double-double of the season.Â
Jordan Camper (Chester, Pa./Chester) added ten boards while Page dished out five assists.

Rinardo Perry led the Bulldogs with 16 points while Cameron Hayes chipped in 12. Saiquan Jamison and Yohance Fleming added 11 and ten points respectively. Belle led the team with eight rebounds.

The game was a back-and-forth right from the opening tip with 14 lead changes and ten ties over the course of 40 minutes and was relatively foul free (only 24 fouls called between both teams). There were five ties in the first 12 minutes of the game and the Lions forged a four point lead at 32-28 before BSU's Juwan Smith cut the margin to two at 32-30 with 4:41 left in the half. Lincoln then strung together eight straight points to take a 40-30 lead with 2:26 left in the half, with Arrington sinking two three-point field goals and Page sandwiching a dunk in between the two.  BSU scored the final six points of the period to pull within four at the half,40-36.

A   9-4 Bulldog run to open the second half gave the visitors a slim 45-44 lead before Campbell's traditional three-point play put the Lions back ahead by two 47-45. The Bulldogs again went back up by two before Lightsey entered the game, providing a huge spark for Lincoln while scoring 11 points in a nine minute stretch as the Lions took a 69-63 lead with 6:33 left.. Lincoln still led by six 76-70 with 3:34 left when the Bulldogs began their final push, scoring six straight points to tie the game at 76-76 with 1:45 left. Williams' layup with 38 seconds left put Lincoln back on top 78-76 and Lions defense made a stop on the next BSU possession but a turnover gave the Bulldogs one more chance with Belle nailing the game winner with 5.9 seconds to go. Page's jumper in the final seconds was off the mark as the Bulldogs came away with the win.Â

The Lions return to action on Wednesday, February 13 when they travel to face Elizabeth City State University for their final regular season road contest. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
