The Lincoln University men's basketball team trailed for much of the game against Washington Adventist University before rallying in the final ten minutes to earn an 86-83 exhibition game win against the Shock Thursday night at Manuel Rivero Hall.
Jordan Camper (Chester, Pa./Chester) led the Lions with 20 points while
Deaquan Williams (Camden, N.J./Camden) scored 17 points and led all players with 11 rebounds.Â
Brendan Wagner (Allentown, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic (Manor College)) and
Keynante Williams (Fredericksburg, Va./Rock Creek Christian Academy) added 12 points apiece. Â
Zahrion Blue (Princeton, N.J./Princeton) dished out seven assists.  Camper and blue also pulled down six rebounds apiece.
Trailing by six with 12 minutes left in the game, Blue scored seven points in a 3:20 span as the Lions rallied to tie the game at 65-65 with 8:40 remaining. The Shock went up by four on two occasions and led 73-69 before four straight free throws from
Deaquan Williams (Camden, N.J./Camden) tied the game for the eighth time at 73-73.  Defensively the Lions then got a steal by Blue which led to a
Keynante Williams (Fredericksburg, Va./Rock Creek Christian Academy) slam dunk to give Lincoln a 75-73 lead, their first since the 1:05 mark of the first half.
Following the Williams dunk, the two teams exchanged baskets and knotted things up twice, with the last deadlock coming with 3:37 left (77-77). The Lions followed with a 7-2 run to take a five-point lead with a minute remaining. Camper started the run with a traditional three-point play and later added another basket before Wagner capped it off with a short jumper to give Lincoln and 84-79 lead.Â
Deaquan Williams (Camden, N.J./Camden) completed the Lions scoring with two free throws with just 3.1 ticks on the clock, sealing what would be an 86-83 win.  Williams went 8-8 from the charity stripe in the final 20 minutes of play.
Washington Adventist led by as many as 10 in the first half but the Lions showed their resilience and chipped away at the lead, tying the game at 28-28 with 4:53 left in the period and taking a brief 38-36 lead before the Shock scored the final five points to lead 41-38 at the half.
Xavier Sewell led the Shock with 31 points and seven rebounds. Dwayne Garner added 15 points while Elijah Maynard chipped in 11. Freddy Liriano had five assists to pace the Washington Adventist (9-3) squad.
The Lions return to action on Saturday December 7, 2019 when they face conference foe Livingstone college in Salisbury, North Carolina.  Tipoff is set for 4:00 p.m.
