Fayetteville, N.C. - The Lincoln University women's basketball team opens up a four-game road stretch on Thursday when they face Fayetteville State University.
The Series:
Thursday game will be the 13
th meeting between Fayetteville State and Lincoln. The Broncos lead the all-time series 9-3. Lincoln won last season's game 64-60 at Manuel Rivero Hall and have won three of the last four meetings. The lions last win at Capel Arena was during the 2014-15 season. Lincoln is 1-5 lifetime on Fayetteville's home court.

Murray Earns Newcomer of the Week Honors
Kwanza Murray (Summerville, S.C./Summerville (Lackawanna College)) (Summerville, S.C./Summerville (Lackawanna College)) has been named the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Women's Basketball Newcomer of the Week for her performance during the Lions two games last week.
Murray scored a total of 43 points in the Lions' two games last week, leading the team to wins over Wilmington University and Shepherd University. She recorded her first double-double of the season vs. Shepherd with 26 points and ten rebounds.
An Impressive Debut- Part II
Kwanza Murray (Summerville, S.C./Summerville (Lackawanna College)) (Summerville, S.C./Summerville (Lackawanna College)) was impressive in her Lincoln women's basketball debut on Saturday against Winston-Salem State, breaking the school record for three point field goals in a game and scoring 24 points. Murray connected on six three point shots (in eight attempts) to break the school record of five held by four different players and last equaled by teammate
DeeDee Irwin (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville Area) (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville Area) last season. The junior transfer from Lackawanna College finished the game with 24 points (9-16 FG) and added seven rebounds and one assist to lead the Lions.
CIAA Honors for Reynolds, Edwards
Lincoln University women's basketball players
Deja Reynolds (Philadelphia, Pa./Imhotep Charter (Temple)) and
Shakira earned Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Women's Basketball weekly award honors for their performances during the week ending December 9, 2018.
Edwards was named the CIAA Rookie of the Week while Reynolds was named the CIAA Newcomer of the Week. This week's honors are the second for both players with Reynold's earning Newcomer of the Week honors back on November 21 and Edwards garnering Rookie of the Week honors a week earlier.
Scouting the Broncos
The Broncos are 7-4 overall and have a 2-1 record in CIAA games. Fayetteville State has won their last four contests, defeating Salem University and Augusta to open the new year and notching conference wins against Elizabeth City State and Virginia State to close out 2018.
Aminata Johnson (Durham, NC) leads FSU with 104 points scored for an average of 9.5 points per game. Two other Broncos are averaging eight points or better through 11 games.
Brittany Drumgoole (Kinston, NC) has a 9.1 average in points and a team high 22 assists and 18 steals.
