The Lincoln University women's volleyball team dropped both contests as they began conference play at the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) North/South Roundup at Lincoln's Manuel Rivero Hall.
The Lions lost the opening match 3-0 (25-6, 25-9, 25-18) to Winston-Salem State University and dropped their second match of the day 3-0 (25-15, 25-14, 25-12) to Johnson C. Smith University.
Lincoln is now 0-4 overall and 0-2 in CIAA games. Winston-Salem who later won their second match of the day is now 3-9 overall and 2-0 in league play. Johnson C. Smith also won both matches on the day and improve to 4-4 overall and 2-0 in league play.
Janae Stackhouse (Baltimore, Md./Baltimore PolyTech) and
Kaiya Lewis (Woodhaven, N.Y./Queens Preparatory Academy) led the Lincoln attack against Winston-Salem with four kills apiece.
Alisa Foster (Philadelphia, Pa./Science Leadership Academy) had 11 assists.
Tierra Russaw (Westland , Mich./Summit Academy) and
Tymera Crudup (Barnegat, N.J./Barnegat) led the team with six digs apiece.
Against the Golden Bulls of JCSU, Stackhouse had five kills while Russaw and Kaymoni Kent had four apiece. Foster had 16 assists and Crudup recorded ten digs.
Winston-Salem's offensive attack was led by Alex Gregson-Hammond's eight kills. Brittany Carpenter had 6 aces and Gabrielle Azar recorded 11 digs. Gregson-Hammond and Alexis Bynum had three blocks apiece.
Gorana Bogdonovic led the JCSU offense with nine kills while Taylor Hendrickson and Anteesha Smoots had seven apiece. Defensively Georgina Diaz led the Golden Bulls with 18 digs.
The Lions return to action on Sunday for their final match of the roundup, hosting Livingstone College at noon at Manuel Rivero Hall.
