A hard fought effort by the Lincoln University women's volleyball team went for naught as Livingstone College defeated the Lions 3-0 in the final game of the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) North/South volleyball roundup Sunday morning at Manuel Rivero Hall
The Lions fall to 0-5 on the season and 0-3 in CIIAA games. Livingstone improves to 2-02 overall and 2-1 in league play. The scores of the three sets were 25-13, 25-19 and 25-21.
Janae Stackhouse (Baltimore, Md./Baltimore PolyTech) led the Lions attack with seven kills. Teira Russaw and
Kaiya Lewis (Woodhaven, N.Y./Queens Preparatory Academy) added four kills apiece. Lewis also led the team with two blocks. Russaw and alias Foster recorded a team-high six digs apiece while
Tymera Crudup (Barnegat, N.J./Barnegat) added five. Foster also led the team with 14 assists.
Ajia Long led the Blue Bears attack with 14 kills on 20 attacks (no errors). Rebecca Brown and Dekiya Wilson-Thomas had 21 and 13 assists respectively. Jekisha Rhymes led the team with ten digs.
The Lions return to action on Thursday, September 13, 2018 when the take on Virginia Union University in Richmond, Virginia. Tipoff is set for 6:00 p.m.
