Lincoln University, Pa. - The Lincoln University women's basketball team returns to action on Thursday when they travel to play Bloomfield College in Bloomfield, New Jersey. The game will be the Lions fourth road game of the season.
The Series:
Lincoln and Bloomfield have met just twice previously with the team's splitting the games. Bloomfield won their last meeting last season on a layup in the final seconds, defeating the Lions 66-64. The lions won the first game of the series in November 2016 defeating the Bears 66-62. Both games were played at Manuel Rivero Hall
Lace Up for Pediatric Cancer
The Lincoln women's basketball team will be wearing gold laces for today's game at Bloomfield College as part of Go for the Goal's Lace up for Pediatric Cancer campaign. All donations along with $4.00 of every $5.00 pair of laces go back to helping kids with cancer in the state that the funds are raised.
About the Lions:
Lincoln University enters Tuesday's game with a 2-4 record after a 71-51 win over Cheyney University. The Lincoln-Cheyney game was an exhibition game for the Lions and does not count in their win/loss record and the statistics will not be counted in the team's season totals.

DeAshia Young (Detroit, Mich./Detroit Public Safety Academy (Labette CC)) leads the team, averaging 15.3 points per game. Young is shooting 47.7% from the field and 72.7% from the free throw line. She is also leads the team with 15 assists
Kenzie Spencer (Richmond, Va./Henrico) leads the team with six blocks while averaging 11.7 points per game. Her 83.3% free throw mark leads the team and she is second on the team with 13 assists.
DeeDee Irwin (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville Area) leads the team with 10 steals.
Alicia Machado leads the team in rebounding, grabbing 37 in her first four games as a Lion for a 9.3 average.
Jada Queen (Trenton, N.J./Trenton Catholic) is averaging 5.8 rebounds per game and leads the team in field goal percentage, making 18 of 31 shots from the field for a 58.1% mark.

Lincoln Earns Split in Tipoff Tournament
Lincoln opened their season with a 86-71 win over regionally ranked Kutztown University.
DeAshia Young (Detroit, Mich./Detroit Public Safety Academy (Labette CC)) exploded for 31 points in the win while grabbing nine rebounds.
Shakira Edwards (Newark, N.J./Bloomfield Tech) added 11 while Jada Quuen chipped in ten.
Edwards recorded her first collegiate double-double the next day as the Lions lost to Bloomsburg, 54-47. The freshman guard had 12 points and ten rebounds.
Newcomer of the Week
Deja Reynolds (Philadelphia, Pa./Imhotep Charter (Temple)) was been named the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Women's Basketball Newcomer of the Week for her performances in the Lions two games during the week ending November 18,. 2018
Reynolds was the team's co-leading scorer in their home opening win over University of the District of Columbia, netting 14 points. She followed that up with a 12-point effort in the loss to regionally ranked Jefferson University.
More Weekly honors
For her efforts in the Lions season opening tipoff tournament, Edwards was named the CIAA Rookie of the Week. Edwards averaged 11.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game while shooting 91.7% from the free throw line (11-12) and 35.3% (6-17) from the field.
Scouting the Bears
Bloomfield is currently 0-5, having lost their last three games by a combined total of 112 points. All three losses came at the hands of schools from the East Coast Conference. Bloomfield's game against Lincoln will be the first of two played against CIAA institutions. Bowie State University will visit the Bears Den on December 30.
Deja McKenzie leads the Bears in both scoring and reboundfing averaging 12.6 points and 6.4 rebounds per game. Caitlin Townes is BC's lone other player averaging douyble figures, having scored 50 points through the team's first five games (10.0 ppg.)
Jonise Ledbetter leads the team with 19 assists while McKenzie and Townes lead the team with 11 steals apiece.
As a team the Bears are scoring an average of 49.8 points per game while giving up 85.20 points per game. Bloomfield is shooting 28.6% from the field, 24.8% from three-point range and 57.6% from the free throw line.
Last Time Out for Bloomfield
Despite trailing by just three (28-25) at halftime, the Bloomfield College women's basketball team suffered a, 72-48 loss to Long Island University (LIU) Post on Thursday night.
The Bears carved out a 15-10 lead after the first quarter of play but the offense sputtered the rest of the half and the teams went to the locker room with the visitors down, 28-25. Bloomfield only managed 23 points across the final two periods on their way to the non-conference setback.
Bobbi Floyd had her best game of the season, posting a double-double, with a game-high 21 points to go along with 13 rebounds. Freshman guard, Caitlyn Townes joined Floyd in double digit scoring with 10 points as the tandem accounted for sixty-five percent of the Bears offense.
