The Lincoln University baseball team dropped both games of the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association doubleheader at Winston-Salem State University on Saturday, falling to the Rams 14-1 in the first game and dropping the second 9-1.

The sweep drops the Lions to 5-14 overall and 1-5 in CIAA games. The Rams improve to 14-11 overall and 4-0 in league play.

Terence Berry (Dover, N.J./Dover HS) took the loss in the opener pitching the first four innings and allowing the first two WSSU runs on just two hits while walking five and striking out five.Â
Michael Howard (Bronx, N.Y./Utica College) went 2-2 with a walk while
Joshua Roberson (Germantown, Md./Seneca Valley HS) scored the lone run for the Lions.

Kanoa Hironaka earned the win for the Rams tossing five scoreless innings and allowing four hits while striking out three.

The Rams were the first to get on the scoreboard, scoring twice in the bottom of the fourth inning to take a 2-0 lead. Ivan Acuna provided an RBI double and later scored on a wild pitch.

Winston-Salem added seven more runs in the fifth inning off new Lions pitcher
Marcos Castillo (Brooklyn, N.Y./HS of Telecommunications) to open the game up with a 9-0 advantage before the Lions got on the board in the top half of the sixth.

Roberson singled to lead off the inning and
Gabriel Santiago (Bronx, N.Y./Mount Saint Michael Academy) was hit by a pitch to put two runners on. One batter later Roberson scored on the second of two errors in the inning by Acuna, making the score 9-1. WSSU added five more runs in the sixth of
Brendan Sherman-Johnson (Baltimore, Md./Baltimore Polytech HS), the third Lions pitcher, to make the final score 14-1.

In the nightcap,
Rolando Alvarez (Brooklyn, N.Y./Nazareth Regional HS) took the loss, pitching five innings and allowing all nine WSSU runs. He walked two and struck out two.Â
Julian Bradshaw (Brooklyn, N.Y./Brooklyn Generation HS) had a triple and scored the lone Lincoln run.Â
Ronald Lashley (Brooklyn, N.Y./Benjamin Banneker Academy) drove the run in on an infield groundout. The Lions had four total hits.

Seth Reeves earned the win for the rams, tossing five innings while allowing one run on two hits and striking out six.

Winston-Salem State scored six runs in the first inning, half coming off the bat of Michael McNamara, who hit a three-run home run. The Rams added two more in the second via an Acuna two-run homerun to go up 8-0.Â

Lincoln got on the board in the third inning as Bradshaw delivered a one-out triple and came around to score on Lashley's ground out to make the score 8-1.

The Rams added their final run in the fourth as Acuna got his third RBI of the game with a sacrifice fly, making the score 9-1.

The Lions threatened in the sixth inning, putting two runners on as DeVante Parker and Roberson recorded back-to-back singles with two out, but were unable to advance the runners.

Winston-Salem State and Lincoln will square off again tomorrow as they complete their four game series in North Carolina. First pitch is as noon, one hour earlier than originally scheduled in anticipation of inclement weather.
