Lions Hang Tough in Exhibition Game Loss Against Division I Morgan State

The Lincoln University men's basketball team played a hard fought game against Division I Morgan State University Thursday night, keeping the game close until the Bears pulled away late with a 72-60 win.

The game was an exhibition contest for the Lions, who put on a strong showing against the Bears with a solid all-around effort and well balanced attack.

Six different Lions scored at least five points with TreVaughn Wilkerson (Philadelphia, Pa./Roman Catholic (Hartford)) leading the way with 12 points (3 3pt. FG).  Elijah Bush (Bay Shore, N.Y./Bay Shore (Essex County CC)) added ten points and a team high eight rebounds while Cameron Campbell (Fayetteville, N.C./Trinity Christian ) had nine points. Jordan Camper (Chester, Pa./Chester) chipped in eight points and had a game-high five blocks. Gevon Arrington (Chesterfield, Va./Petersburg (Richard Bland)) led the team with five assists while scoring seven points. Jams Richardson came off the bench to add five points.

Phillip Carr led four Bears in double figures with 12 points and a game-high 19 rebounds. Martez Cameron and Tyler Streeter chipped in 11 points apiece and Stanley Davis added ten.  Cameron led the team with five assists.

Neither team led by more than five points in the first half as the lead exchanged hands five times over the first 20 minutes.  Lincoln took an early 11-10 lead only to give the lead right back to the Bears on their next possession.  The Lions kept things close and retook the lead with a 9-4 flourish over the final four minutes to lead 32-30 at the break.

A 16-6 spurt by the Bears in the opening seven minutes of the second half gave the hosts an eight point lead at 46-38.  Three-balls from Bush and Richardson helped close the gap to four at 50-46 with 9:25 left before the Bears rattled off seven straight points to take a double digit lead at 57-46.  The Lions would get no closer than eight over the final seven minutes as the Bears closed out the game with a 6-2 flourish over the final 2:06 to earn the 12-point win.

Next up for Lincoln is a road clash at University of the Sciences on Sunday, November  19, 2017. Tipoff is set for 3:00 pm.
