Box Score The Lincoln University women's volleyball team completed a season sweep of Elizabeth City State University on Sunday with a 3-0 (25-13, 25-14, 25-19) win at ECSU's Vaughan Center in Elizabeth City, North Carolina.

The Lions improve to 5-15 overall and 4-8 in Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association matches. Lincoln's division record improves to 3-3 in the CIAA northern Division. ECSU falls to 0-17 overall and 0-12 in CIAA action (0-6 in the Northern Division).

Atarah Lindsey (Detroit, MI/Romulus High School) and
Mariah Russell (St. Louis, MO/Maplewood Richmond Heights HS) Â led the Lions with 13 and 12 kills respectively.Â
Shanna King (Newark, NJ/University High School)  recorded 22 assists, setting the LU offense and also led all players with four service aces. On the defensive side Russell paced the Lions with 14 digs while Lindsey and
Tierra Russaw (Detroit, MI/Summit Academy ) Â added 13 and 10 respectively.Â
Corian Campbell (Newark, NJ/No. 13th HS) Â and
Gecinda Turner (West Philadelphia, PA/Academy Park)Â had two blocks apiece.

In the opening set, the Lions used an 11-1 run to break open a close contest, taking a 20-8 lead en route to the 25-13 win. Russaw and King each recorded two aces during the run while King and Russell added two kills apiece.

ECSU jumped out to an early 3-2 lead in the second set before the Lions rattled off six straight points, five off of Viking errors to take control with an 8-3 lead. The Vikings closed the gap to 11-8 before a 9-1 run by LU put the second set firmly in their control as the Lions opened up a 19-9 lead. The Vikings came as close as eight, 22-14, before the Lions scored the last three points, two on kilsl from Campbell to go up 2-0 with a 25-14 second set win.

Lincoln opened the third set scoring the first five points. SCSU countered with a 10-3 run to take a 10-8 lead. Six ties and four lead changes later, the Lions retook the lead for good at 16-15 and outscored the Vikings 9-4 the rest of the way to complete the 3-0 sweep with a 25-19 win. LU got three kills from Lindsey and two more from Russell during their final run.

As a team, the Lions hit .288 (34-11-80) while ECSU hit .046 (23-19-87). The Lions also held the advantage in aces (8-4), digs (45-32) and team blocks (4-1).

Nikhaule Singleton and Auzheure Jackson paced ECSU with eight kills apiece.
