Box Score The Lions lost to the Trojans of Virginia State by a score of 63-80. The Lions didn't seem to have the energy they played with just a few days ago when Chowan University came to visit. Unfortunately for the Lions, the Trojans did. Time and time again the Trojans were able to score inside and out. Their screen plays were working more than often and their long range jump shots were hitting their mark too often. The Lions always seemed a little slower and a step behind.
The team was led in scoring by sophomore Jordan Watson (Philadelphia, PA/Springside Chestnut Hill Academy) who put up 13 points on 5-16 shooting. He was joined by teammate Blair Davis (Baltimore, MD/Baltimore City College HS) who scored 11 points on 3-7 shooting to go along with 5-5 at the free throw line.
As a team the Lions shot 28.8% compared to the Trojans' 44.8%. This was not a performance the Lions will want to dwell on for too long as they have Bowie State coming up Saturday February 6, 2016 in Bowie, Maryland. Tipoff is 3:00 pm. The loss takes the Lions' record to 8-14 overall and 6-5 in the CIAA Conference. They are now in third place in the CIAA Northern Division as that record falls to 2-2.
