LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. - The Lions loss both games of the double header against the Griffins of Chestnut Hill College on Wednesday, April 8th at the LU Baseball Complex.
Infielders
Charles Gibbons (Brooklyn, NY/Genesee CC) and
DeVante Parker (Bear, DE/Appoquinimink HS) both had two hits against the Griffins leading the Lions at the plate. Lincoln got on the scoreboard in the fourth inning with an RBI single by outfielder Branden Bolden. Bolden reached on a fielder's choice while
Gabriel Santiago (Bronx, NY/Mount Saint Michael Academy) crossed home plate.
The Lions had their best inning during the seventh with huge hits by
Charles Gibbons (Brooklyn, NY/Genesee CC) and
Edwin Rivera (Bronx, N.Y./Gompers HS). Chestnut Hill walked Lincoln's first two batters
Avery Lomax (Bowie, Md./Eleanor Roosevelt HS) and
Ronald Lashley (Brooklyn, NY/Benjamin Banneker Academy). Gibbons singled to right field for an RBI scoring Lomax from third base. LU's next batter Rivera followed with a two RBI double to center field scoring Lashley and Gibbons. The Lions scored three runs in the final inning but still trailed Chestnut Hill 8-4 in the loss.
Pitcher
Stephen Smith (Los Angeles, Calif./Dorsey HS) struck out two batters and walked four. He completed the game and surrendered eight hits and six earned runs.
In game two the Griffins jumped out to an early 7-0 advantage after the third inning. The Lions finally got things rolling in the fourth inning with four runs on three hits.
Infielder
DeVante Parker (Bear, DE/Appoquinimink HS) singled to third base leading off the inning and then
Charles Gibbons (Brooklyn, NY/Genesee CC) doubled to right field. LU's next batter drew a walk loading the bases for
Gabriel Santiago (Bronx, NY/Mount Saint Michael Academy). The Lions scored on a groundout by Santiago to second base as Parker crossed home plate. Infielder Terrell Berringer walked to load the bases once more full of Lions for outfielder Branden Bolden. Bolden RBI singled to right field as Gibbons scored the Lions second run. Michael Sistrun was hit by a pitch advancing all runners and scoring Sherman-Johnson (7-3). Chestnut Hill allowed another Lincoln run scored on a passed ball bringing in Berringer for the innings fourth run.
The Griffins extended their lead in the fifth inning with one run off of two hits. The Lions responded with a run of their own in the bottom of the inning.

Charles Gibbons (Brooklyn, NY/Genesee CC). In the sixth Chestnut Hill secured the victory with three more runs.
The game was called in the top of the seventh inning due to darkness as the Lions suffered an 11-5 loss.
Lincoln falls to 2-20 on the season and travels to Murfreesboro, NC for a CIAA weekend series against Chowan University.
