WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Lincoln's baseball team dropped a pair of games to Winston-Salem State University on Sunday, March 22nd at BB&T Ballpark.
Michael Howard (Bronx, NY/Utica College)'s RBI single scored Terrell Berringer in game two.
Brendan Sherman-Johnson (Baltimore, MD/Baltimore Polytechnic Institute)'s single to left field in the fifth inning was the Lions only offensive production against the Rams in game one of a double header on Sunday, March 22nd. Winston-Salem used eight hits to score five runs in a 5-0 shutout against Lincoln.
Ronald Lashley (Brooklyn, NY/Benjamin Banneker Academy) pitched a complete game for the Lions striking out a pair and walking five batters. The Rams scored three runs in the second inning and two runs in the fifth inning to down the Lions.
In game two Winston-Salem State took an 11-0 advantage by the end of the third inning before eventually downing the Lions 14-1 completing their weekend sweep.
The Lions scored their lone run in the fourth inning of game two. Infielder Terrell Berringer drew a walk and then stole second base getting himself in scoring position. Infielder
Michael Howard (Bronx, NY/Utica College) followed with an RBI single up the middle that scored Berringer, cutting the Rams lead to 11-1. Howard finished with two hits while
DeVante Parker (Bear, DE/Appoquinimink HS) and Berringer also recording hits in a 14-1 loss to the Rams.
Lincoln falls to 1-10 overall and 0-4 in the CIAA after their weekend series against the Rams. Winston-Salem State improves to 22-6 and 7-1 in the CIAA. The Lions travel to Philadelphia, PA on Wednesday, March 25th against Chestnut Hill College in a double header beginning at 4 p.m.
