Pam & Lady Lions Roll to 72-61 Road Win At Virginia State

ETTRICK, Va. – The Lady Lions picked up a 72-61, road CIAA Northern Divisional victory over Virginia State behind a second half rally on Saturday, January 31st at Daniel Gymnasium. Four Lady Lions scored in double figures led by Zephrah Pam (Syracuse, NY/Monroe CC)'s double-double of 19 points and 14 rebounds.

Senior Zephrah Pam (Syracuse, NY/Monroe CC) scored the Lady Lions first four points of their afternoon game against the Lady Trojans. Pam had 12 first half points with eight rebounds pacing Lincoln. Virginia State nailed 7-of-10 shots from three-point land, building their lead while Lincoln was 9-of-12 from the charity stripe in the half. The Lady Trojans went on a 12-0 run taking a 29-17 lead over the Lady Lions by the 8:32 mark. VSU held a double digit advantage until a minute remained in the half. Late scores by freshman Teira Pendleton (Baltimore, MD/Baltimore Poly Institute) and Zephrah Pam (Syracuse, NY/Monroe CC) reduced the Lady Lions deficit to seven (40-33) at the half.

The Lady Lions turned things around in the early moments of the second half holding Virginia State scoreless for the first five minutes. Juniors Amani Clark (Middletown, DE/Appoquinimink HS) and Courtney Smith (Milwaukee, WI/Nicolet HS) sparked the LU second half rally as the Lady Lions reclaimed the lead 45-40. Virginia State struggled offensively in the half shooting 25 percent (7-of-28) from the field and only making 2-of-9 attempts from three-point range. Amani Clark (Middletown, DE/Appoquinimink HS)'s layup at the 12:50 mark gave the Lady Lions their first double digit lead over the Lady Trojans. Clark scored eight points and recorded four steals in the second half. Courtney Smith (Milwaukee, WI/Nicolet HS) made a pair of three-pointers and had ten points in the half followed by Zephrah Pam (Syracuse, NY/Monroe CC)'s seven points and six rebounds.

Lincoln cruised to a double digit road victory over Virginia State behind their defensive pressure. The Lady Lions scored 15 points off of ten VSU turnovers and held a 19-12 rebounding advantage in the second half. The Lady Lions picked up the program's first victory at Virginia State, 72-61.

Four Lady Lions netted double figures led by Zephrah Pam (Syracuse, NY/Monroe CC)'s 19 points on 8-of-14 made shots from the field. Pam recorded her sixth double-double of the season grabbing 14 rebounds and also finished with four steals. Courtney Smith (Milwaukee, WI/Nicolet HS) scored 16 points reaching double figure scoring for the 13th time this season. Teira Pendleton (Baltimore, MD/Baltimore Poly Institute) had 12 points and converted on 6-of-8 free-throws while Amani Clark (Middletown, DE/Appoquinimink HS) also scored 12 points to go along with five steals and four assists.  

Lincoln moves to 15-5 overall and 7-3 in CIAA play. Their next game will be a home CIAA cross divisional matchup against Johnson C. Smith University on Wednesday, February 4th at 5:30 p.m.
