LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. – Junior
Chaz Sharp (Baltimore, MD/Xavier University of Louisiana) scored a season-best 17 points leading the Lions in a 86-78 non-conference loss to Fairmont State University on Saturday, November 29
th in Manuel Rivero Hall.
The Lions got off to a good start with four quick points from senior
Alonzo Murphy (Pittsburgh, PA/California University (PA)) and freshman
Jordan Watson (Philadelphia, PA/Springside Chestnut Hill Academy). Lincoln's early 4-0 lead would be there last time ahead of Fairmont State, as the Falcons dominated the Lions for majority of the game. Fairmont State led 21-8 by the 12:40 mark in the first half after a couple of made shots from down town.
The Lions fought back and cut into the Falcons advantage by the 5-minute mark. Lincoln converted on 16-of-19 free-throws in the opening half led by senior
Kyle Aiken (Randolph, NJ/Randolph HS). Aiken made all four of his attempts from the line while three others went 2-for-2 from the free-throw line.
Alonzo Murphy (Pittsburgh, PA/California University (PA)) paced the Lions with 10 points and six rebounds in the first half, but Fairmont State led 42-38 over Lincoln at halftime.
Fairmont State adjusted in the second half and got to the free-throw line frequently. The Falcons shot 91% (22-24) from the charity stripe and 37% (10-27) from the field. Lincoln improved on their field goal percentage from 33% (10-10) in the first half to 46% (15-32) in the second. The Lions failed to convert on opportunities from the line falling to 47% (9-19) against the Falcons.
Lincoln's bench outscored Fairmont's bench 31-11 led by
Chaz Sharp (Baltimore, MD/Xavier University of Louisiana)'s 12 second half points. Sharp was 5-8 from the field and even gave LU their first lead since the beginning moments of the game (51-51) with 14:08 left to play. Freshman
Quaman Burton (Richmond, VA/John Marshall HS) had six points in the half with five rebounds while junior
Rysheen Dorn (Philadelphia, PA/A.S.A. College) also scored six points from the LU bench.
The Falcons had 24 attempts from the free-throw line and held on for a non-conference win over Lincoln, 86-78.

Alonzo Murphy (Pittsburgh, PA/California University (PA)) finished with 10 points and seven rebounds. Both
Kyle Aiken (Randolph, NJ/Randolph HS) and
Quaman Burton (Richmond, VA/John Marshall HS) had nine points apiece with Aiken dishing off a team-best six assists and Burton grabbing a game-high eight rebounds.
The Lions fall to a 3-4 overall record and will host Johnson C. Smith University on Tuesday, December 2n d at 7:30 p.m. in Manuel Rivero Hall.
